Experiencing Different Cultures

“One of the best things about travelling is learning about and experiencing different cultures. Travel provides you with the opportunity to participate in traditional festivals and local events. Living with local people, seeing famous landmarks, trying out a few phrases in the local language, and spending a few days away from your comfort zone are all part of the experience. When you visit a new place with the intention of learning, you become completely immersed in the history, culture, cuisine, and environment of the place you are visiting. By learning about cultural differences, you may find that we are not as different as you would have imagined.”

      ~Dr. Sonam Wangchok

Why Traveling With Us?

HHT reflects Dr. Sonam Wangchok’s aspiration to share (many years of) his experiences, research and knowledge of cultural heritage, nature and sacred landscapes of the Himalayas with the visiting guests. The tour programme and itinerary of HHT are being developed under his supervision and guidance.

HHT always has something new to offer which you might not have expected. So, if you are traveling with HHT always expect the unexpected experiences and knowledge about legacy of mountain people.

Believing in “travel is more than the seeing of sights” we always try to enrich the knowledge of visitors with explanation of intangible heritage, including history, tradition, folklore, iconographies, mystic traditions, beliefs and values related to tangible sites.

We support activities of village communities, monastic communities and organizations working in the field of cultural preservation in the Himalayas with part of the proceeds from HHT tours. In this way our guests also contribute to mountain communities in preserving their rich cultural heritage.

We prepare the itinerary to suit your interest, preference, time and budget. Be it a culture and heritage tour, paid internship, festival, photography or home stay trek – we can all customize for you. Your satisfaction is our aspiration!
